Private Driver for group of 14

I need a private driver for large group of 14. The driver can use our vehicles 2 8 Pax SUVs. We will be doing RTH and Haleakala Sunrise so will lneed for two different dates . Has anyone done this and can make r recommendations? Will be tracing in December second week.

It sounds like you're planning an amazing trip to Maui with a large group, and you're looking for a private driver to assist with transportation to some of the island's most iconic spots, like the Road to Hana (RTH) and Haleakalā Sunrise. Since you already have two 8-passenger SUVs, you’ll need a driver who is familiar with these routes and can handle a larger group comfortably.

Here are a few suggestions and tips for finding a private driver for your group:

  • Consider Local Private Tour Companies: Many local companies offer private driver services and specialize in tours for large groups. Some of these companies are experienced with custom itineraries, like the Road to Hana and Haleakalā Sunrise, which are both popular but can be challenging to navigate on your own with a large group. Look for companies that have a good reputation for safety and customer service. Some examples include:
    • Maui Private Tours – They offer private drivers for various tours, including Haleakalā Sunrise and Road to Hana. They may also provide guidance on the best spots to stop for photos, snacks, and sightseeing.
    • Hawaii Eco-Tours – Known for offering sustainable and eco-friendly tours, they can provide a private driver for large groups and customize the experience based on your preferences.
    • Road to Hana Tours – Many operators specialize specifically in the Road to Hana and have guides familiar with the route and large group logistics.
  • Check Driver Availability for Your Dates: Since you're traveling in the second week of December, it's important to book early, especially since December is a busy time for tourism in Hawaii. Many companies have a limited number of vehicles, so securing a driver and vehicle in advance will help ensure availability for your preferred dates.
  • Verify the Details: Since you're using your own vehicles, make sure the private driver is comfortable with using your SUVs and that the vehicles are insured for private use. Ensure the driver knows the area well, especially for early morning trips like Haleakalā Sunrise, which requires getting up at very early hours (often before dawn) and navigating a mountain road.
  • Check for Additional Fees: Some companies may charge additional fees for long-distance tours (like the Road to Hana), so make sure to ask about any potential upcharges for fuel, driver gratuity, or longer hours of service.
  • Plan for Comfort and Safety: Since your group is large, make sure to confirm that the driver will provide a comfortable ride with enough space for everyone. The drive to Haleakalā and the Road to Hana can be long and winding, so it’s essential that everyone has a smooth and safe journey. If you're doing Haleakalā Sunrise, ensure the driver has experience navigating the dark, winding road early in the morning.
  • Recommended Stops on the Road to Hana: While you're on the Road to Hana, consider asking your driver to take you to some of the best scenic stops, such as:
    • Wai'anapanapa State Park (black sand beach)
    • Ohe'o Gulch (Seven Sacred Pools)
    • Hamoa Beach
    • Ke'anae Peninsula
    • Wailua Valley State Wayside
  • Stay Flexible: The Road to Hana can sometimes be closed or require detours due to weather conditions, so having a flexible schedule and a knowledgeable driver will make your trip much more enjoyable. For Haleakalā Sunrise, be sure to check the weather forecast ahead of time as conditions can change quickly at the summit.

Overall, hiring a private driver for these excursions will enhance the experience by reducing stress and allowing your group to enjoy the beauty of Maui without worrying about directions or parking. Since you're traveling in December, it’s best to book early to ensure the availability of a good driver who can accommodate your group’s needs.

Safe travels and enjoy your Maui adventure!
