Your itinerary sounds like a wonderful trip to the Georgia coast! Here's some feedback and suggestions to make your travel more enjoyable and efficient:

1. Canton, GA to Jekyll Island (3 days):

Jekyll Island is a great starting point for your beach trip. It’s a quiet, historic island with beautiful beaches, nature preserves, and a slower pace, which makes it perfect for a relaxing three-day stay. You can visit the Jekyll Island Historic District, explore Driftwood Beach, and bike along the island's many trails. If you're into wildlife, you can also check out the Georgia Sea Turtle Center.

Pros of 3 days on Jekyll Island:

  • Relaxing, scenic beaches
  • Historical sites and outdoor activities like biking and nature walks
  • Not too crowded, offering a peaceful atmosphere

However, keep in mind that Jekyll Island is somewhat quiet in terms of nightlife and dining options compared to other islands. If you’re looking for more variety in dining or things to do, you might need to travel off the island to nearby Brunswick or St. Simons Island.

2. Jekyll Island to St. Simons Island (3 days):

St. Simons Island is just a short drive from Jekyll Island, making it a perfect next stop. It's a little more developed, with more dining options, boutique shopping, and historical landmarks like the St. Simons Lighthouse and Fort Frederica National Monument. You can also enjoy the beaches and explore the island’s nature, either by bike or by walking. The village area is charming and offers a more active scene, with plenty of restaurants and cafes to choose from.

Pros of 3 days on St. Simons Island:

  • More dining and shopping options
  • Historic sites and great local culture
  • Active, vibrant atmosphere

Three days here should give you a nice balance of relaxation and exploration without feeling rushed.

3. St. Simons Island to Folly Beach or Hilton Head Island (3 days):

Here’s where the decision between Folly Beach and Hilton Head Island might come in. Both offer unique experiences, and your choice depends on the vibe you're looking for.

  • Folly Beach: Located near Charleston, Folly Beach is a laid-back, quirky beach town with a surf-town atmosphere. It’s great for casual beach days, small local shops, and a more "bohemian" vibe. If you like surfing, this could be the spot for you.
  • Hilton Head Island: Hilton Head is more upscale with well-maintained beaches, golf courses, resorts, and a variety of recreational activities. It’s a great spot if you want more amenities, higher-end dining options, and a more family-friendly atmosphere with plenty of outdoor activities like kayaking and biking.

Recommendation:

  • If you're looking for a quieter, more relaxed beach experience, go for Folly Beach.
  • If you prefer a resort-style experience with a variety of dining, golf, and family activities, go for Hilton Head Island.

Final Thoughts:

In terms of travel time, your itinerary is solid. The drive between Jekyll Island and St. Simons Island is very short (about 15 minutes), so you’ll have plenty of time to explore both. The drive from St. Simons to either Hilton Head or Folly Beach will take about 1.5 to 2 hours, so make sure to plan for that. If you’re using the time for a leisurely drive along the coast, the route is quite scenic.

Overall, this itinerary offers a nice blend of relaxed beach days, nature, history, and dining experiences. Each location is distinct, and you’ll have a great time exploring these beautiful areas of the Georgia coast. Enjoy your trip!
