Best Way to Costco
Hello All, I'll be traveling to Waikiki with my family of 4 at the end of May. I'd like to go on a solo trip to Costo to pick up small items such as snacks, water, juice, fruits, etc. Questions:
1) I don't have a rental car, what's the best way to get there?
2) Is it frown upon or against hotel (Sheraton) policy to bring groceries from Costco to your room?
TIA
Hello,
Traveling to Costco from Waikiki without a rental car is very doable. Here’s some detailed guidance for your trip:
1. Getting to Costco: Since you don’t have a rental car, you have several options:
- Rideshare (Uber/Lyft): This is the easiest and most convenient option. Costco in Honolulu is about 10–15 minutes from Waikiki by car, depending on traffic. You can request a one-way trip or round-trip.
- Taxi: Similar to rideshare, taxis are readily available in Waikiki. Make sure to agree on the fare or use a metered ride.
- Public Bus (TheBus): Oahu’s bus system is reliable and affordable. Routes 8, 19, or 20 from Waikiki can get you close to the Costco in Honolulu. Expect 30–40 minutes one way, and check the bus schedule for exact times.
2. Bringing groceries to your hotel room:
- Most hotels, including the Sheraton Waikiki, do not have any policy against bringing groceries or small items to your room. Guests commonly bring snacks, beverages, and other personal items from stores like Costco.
- It is generally considered acceptable to bring items back to your room for convenience. Just be mindful of hotel rules regarding cooking or using appliances if you plan to store or prepare food.
- If you are planning to bring larger quantities or refrigerated items, make sure your room has enough space or a mini-fridge for storage.
Additional tips:
- Consider bringing reusable shopping bags for easier transport from the store to your room.
- If using a rideshare or taxi, pack your items in manageable bags, as drivers may not assist with heavy lifting.
- Costco can get busy, especially on weekends, so try to go during morning hours if possible for shorter lines and parking availability.
Overall, using a rideshare or bus is the most straightforward way to reach Costco from Waikiki, and bringing groceries to your room at the Sheraton is perfectly fine.
