I’m will be alone, june 19-22. I read the forums and decided these are more accessible and safe locations.
Looking for a hotel that is roach and bed bug free, I have phobia of roaches. Would like mid range but clean in a safe area.
Not planning to rent a car if marta/uber can work
It sounds like you're looking for a safe, clean, and accessible hotel for your trip to Atlanta in June. All three areas you're considering—Midtown, Decatur, and Buckhead—are great choices in terms of safety, accessibility, and convenience, especially if you plan on using MARTA or Uber to get around. Here's a breakdown of each area and some hotel recommendations that meet your requirements for being clean, roach- and bedbug-free, and in a safe location.
Midtown Atlanta
Midtown is one of Atlanta’s most vibrant and accessible neighborhoods. It has a lot to offer in terms of dining, culture, and nightlife, and is very walkable. Midtown is also well-served by MARTA, so you’ll have easy access to public transportation, including the MARTA station at 10th Street and Piedmont Avenue. It's a popular area for tourists and locals alike, so you'll find plenty of hotel options.
Decatur
Decatur is a charming, walkable neighborhood with a small-town feel, but still close to the city. It has a thriving dining scene and is also well-connected by MARTA (the Decatur station on the Blue Line). It's quieter than Midtown, which might appeal to you if you prefer a more laid-back atmosphere, but it’s still close enough to enjoy Atlanta’s major attractions.
Buckhead
Buckhead is a more upscale neighborhood in Atlanta, known for its high-end shopping and fine dining. While it’s a bit farther from downtown, Buckhead is well-served by MARTA (the Buckhead station on the Red Line), and it offers a safe environment with plenty of amenities. It’s also great if you enjoy a more luxurious atmosphere.
General Advice: All of the hotels mentioned are in safe areas, but it’s always a good idea to check recent reviews for any updated information regarding cleanliness and pest control. Since you're concerned about roaches and bed bugs, most reputable hotels have very strict cleanliness policies, so you should be safe in these mid-range options. Additionally, if you’re booking through a site like TripAdvisor or Booking.com, look for reviews that specifically mention cleanliness and pest-free conditions to get peace of mind before making your reservation.
Transportation: All of the areas you're considering have good access to MARTA, which will allow you to get around the city without a car. Midtown and Decatur are particularly walkable and have a lot of local attractions within walking distance. In Buckhead, you may need to use MARTA or Uber to get to downtown attractions, but it’s still an easy commute.
Ultimately, any of these neighborhoods would be great options for your stay, but if you're looking for a mix of accessibility, safety, and a lively atmosphere, Midtown could be the best option for you. Decatur is a quieter alternative, and Buckhead offers more upscale accommodations and shopping.
