Which place?
Hi. My daughter is eloping at the 1 Hotel in March. I am trying to find close accommodations because we do not want to stay where they are. I am torn between two units at the Hanalei Bay Resort or two units at Ali Kai resort. Can anyone recommend between those two? Or I am open if anyone has a different option. We are trying to sleep six other people.
Thank you!
April
Both Hanalei Bay Resort and Ali’i Kai Resort are excellent choices near the 1 Hotel on Kauai’s North Shore, but they offer slightly different experiences depending on what you prioritize.
Hanalei Bay Resort:
- Located on a quieter stretch of Hanalei Bay, with beautiful mountain and ocean views.
- Direct beach access and a large pool area.
- Units tend to be spacious, well-maintained, and good for families or groups of six.
- The property has a more laid-back, traditional Kauai vibe.
Ali’i Kai Resort:
- Located closer to the heart of Hanalei town, with easy access to shops, restaurants, and activities.
- Beachfront units with panoramic views and a more modern feel.
- Smaller property with fewer units, which can mean a quieter, more private experience.
- Good for groups who want to be within walking distance of town amenities while still having a beachfront stay.
Other considerations:
- If you prefer more direct access to shops and casual dining, Ali’i Kai may be better.
- If your priority is expansive views, a relaxed atmosphere, and beach access without leaving the property, Hanalei Bay Resort is ideal.
- Both resorts are within a short drive of 1 Hotel, so you’ll still be nearby without staying at the same property.
Alternative options to consider for a group of six:
- Private vacation rentals in the Hanalei or Princeville area, which can offer more flexibility, multiple bedrooms, and privacy.
- Check VRBO or local property managers for homes with direct bay views or larger outdoor spaces for gatherings.
Overall, both Hanalei Bay Resort and Ali’i Kai Resort are solid choices; it depends on whether you value proximity to town and modern amenities (Ali’i Kai) versus space, traditional resort feel, and a more secluded beach experience (Hanalei Bay Resort).
