Ginkgo Glory Walk

Ready to soak up autumn vibes just outside Tokyo? 🌞 Akishima’s Showa Kinen National Park is a must for fall lovers! The golden ginkgo avenue is Insta-famous, and it’s only a quick 30-minute train from Shinjuku, making it super easy for a day trip. 🍂
Top Spot to Visit:
- Showa Kinen National Park (3173 Midoricho, Tachikawa, Tokyo 190-0014)
Open year-round: 09:30-17:00 (Mon-Fri), 09:30-18:00 (Sat-Sun)
Why Go? My top tip: Visit during autumn to catch the ginkgo trees in full golden glory. They line the paths and create epic yellow tunnels for your selfie game. It’s an experience you shouldn’t miss!
Getting There: Hop on the JR Chuo Line from Shinjuku to Tachikawa Station and you’re basically there. The park is walking distance from the station—super chill, no need to stress about complicated transfers!
Park Hack: Go early to beat the crowds and get the best sunlight for photos (especially on sunny days). The wide open spaces make it great for a picnic, too—don’t forget some snacks!
Food: There are casual cafés inside the park for bento lunches, but you can also grab street eats near Tachikawa Station.
Local Tips: Bring cash for small purchases, pack layers as autumn can be breezy, and check park hours before heading out!
