Panna Meena Ka Kund is a historic stepwell located in the heart of Jaipur, near the Amer Fort. Built during the 16th century, this stepwell is an architectural masterpiece and a perfect example of Rajasthan’s unique water management system. It is said to have been constructed by the Meena community, who were known for their engineering skills.
The stepwell features a symmetrical layout with a series of steps leading down to the water level. It has four sides with stairs that connect to each other, forming a geometrically pleasing pattern. The well itself was once a vital water source for the people of the area, especially during the dry season, and is designed to maintain the flow of water even during periods of scarcity.
The Kund’s striking visual symmetry, with its multiple levels of stairs and serene environment, makes it an ideal spot for photography. Though not as famous as other landmarks in Jaipur, Panna Meena Ka Kund is a quiet and peaceful place to visit, offering a glimpse into the city’s ancient water management systems and architectural beauty.
It’s a great stop for anyone visiting Amer Fort, as it is located just a short distance away.
