#cherryblossom25 Mt. Shirouma (Hakuba) and the Daisekkei
(Hakuba VIllage)
Sunday the 11th was Mountain Day in Japan, so over the next five days we'd like to introduce some of Nagano's iconic peaks. ⛰
Our first peak is Mt. Shirouma, also known as Mt. Hakuba. It is the tallest peak of the Ushirotateyama mountain range of the Northern Japanese Alps at 2,923 meters high.
There are several routes to the peak, but the most famous includes a climb up the Daisekkei valley, where snow remains on the ground even during summer.
*The Hakuba Daisekkei is currently closed due to safety concerns over the appearance of numerous crevasses in the snow. For details, please see Hakuba Village's official website.
