Glamping With A Mount Batur and Lake View

Our journey across the island of Bali continued with an expedition to the mountainous province of Kintamani — one of the most amazing places on this paradise piece of land. When we left the coast, the bright sun was still playing reflections on the palm leaves, but just a few kilometers later, the sky began to fill with gray clouds. Traveling about 50 km from the ocean, we noticed the temperature starting to drop. The humid tropical air was replaced by a coolness that made us pull sweaters out of our backpacks. But even that didn’t prepare us for what awaited us next.
The Road to the Mountains and the Downpour
As we climbed higher, the road became narrower and more winding. Every turn revealed new views: endless terraces of rice fields stretching into the distance, jungles, and clouds that seemed to cling to the mountain peaks. But suddenly, the quiet rustle of rain turned into a real tropical downpour.
We were ready for it — we had raincoats, covered bikes, and even waterproof phone cases. But, as they say, you can’t fight nature. The downpour was so strong that the raindrops seemed to pierce through any protection. Within minutes, we were soaked to the bone, and our belongings seemed to weigh twice as much.
The road became slippery, and every turn demanded maximum concentration. But despite all the difficulties, we couldn’t help but admire the power of nature. It was a true tropical storm that reminded us how small we are in the face of the forces of nature.
Mount Batur and Its Sacred Energy
Finally, we reached the foot of Mount Batur — one of the most famous and sacred places in Bali. This volcano is active, although its activity is minimal now. The locals consider Batur a symbol of fertility and spiritual power. According to their beliefs, the volcano holds the energy of ancestors and protects the island from misfortune.
We set up camp at the foot of the volcano to spend the night surrounded by this unique nature. In the morning, we planned to climb to the crater, but the weather had other plans. A heavy downpour and thick fog made the ascent impossible. We decided to leave this magical experience for next time, as such places require a special approach and nature’s blessing.
