Background
Cuca Restaurant, tucked away in tranquil Jimbaran, Bali, is the creation of Michelin-trained Chef Kevin Cherkas and entrepreneur Virginia Entizne. Since 2013, it has offered a blend of casual charm and fine-dining quality under a tapas-sharing concept. The décor is modern and minimalistic, with plenty of natural light, gardens, and an open kitchen that brings energy and transparency to the dining experience.
Why It’s Worth Visiting
Cuca stands out for its inventive comfort food meant for sharing, with globally inspired tapas that make use of locally sourced ingredients. Think BBQ octopus, honey-baked pumpkin salad, smoked butterfish, lobster rolls, and a playful dessert like “Bali Breakfast.” Their tasting / chef’s menu is especially appealing if you want a curated experience that highlights the restaurant’s creativity and use of fresh market produce.
My Impression
Cuca is unforgettable because it hits the sweet spot between comfort and surprising sophistication. Sitting in their garden under soft lights, enjoying shared plates with bold flavors—not just what’s on the menu but how it’s presented—brings out moments of delight. It’s not just a meal, but an experience: watching chefs at work, sampling dishes that challenge expectations, and ending with a dessert that feels like a sweet-tropical signature.
