Bang Pa-In Palace was built during the Ayutthaya period during the reign of King Prasat Thong. It was renovated during the reign of King Rama IV for royal visits. A major renovation took place during the reign of King Rama V.

The palace's residences feature Khmer, Greek, Chinese, European, and Thai styles. There are also numerous palaces, large and small, and the interior features gardens and rare ancient trees.
