Wat Phra Chetuphon Wimon Mangklaram (Wat Pho)
Address - Sanam Chai Road, Phra Borom Maha Ratcha Wang Subdistrict, Phra Nakhon District, Bangkok

🚘 Travel - You can travel by bus or taxi, which is more convenient. You can park your own car next to the temple (there is a fee), but it is difficult to find parking. Or take the subway to Sanam Chai Station and walk a short distance.

Atmosphere/Location - Wat Phra Chetuphon Wimon Mangklaram (Wat Pho) is a first-class royal temple, a type of royal temple, located in Phra Nakhon District. There are many entrances in 4 directions. I entered through the south door. When I entered the door, there will be an officer at the point. He will recommend that you look at the map sign so that we know where we are.
Because the temple is very large, I walked in and diagonally to the left. I will see a small pagoda. Walk a little further through the white wall inside and you will see the four-reign pagoda, which is the highlight of the temple. There are 3 pagodas in a row and another pagoda in the front in the middle. The pagoda shape is square like a staircase. The pagoda pattern is decorated with yellow floor tiles and various flower patterns.
The pagoda at the far end is slightly higher and its shape and pattern are different. Each pagoda has a name: 1. Phra Maha Chedi Si Sanphet Dayayan 2. Phra Maha Chedi Dilok Thammakarn Nitan 3. Phra Maha Chedi Muni Bat Borikan 4. Phra Maha Chedi Song Phra Si Suriyothai
Next, before walking through the south gate, you will find the Phra Mondop or Ho Trai Chatura Muk. The top is shaped like a crown, decorated with colorful tiles. The exterior walls have stone inscriptions of proverbs.

Outside, you will find the Phra Wihan Phra Phuttha Saiyas. There is only one entrance on the north side. Before entering, you must take off your shoes and put them in a bag. The temple provides free cloth bags for you to carry with you. Inside the Phra Wihan Phra Phuttha Saiyas, there is a large reclining Buddha. There are pillars blocking the spaces. There are some spaces for taking pictures with the reclining Buddha in full.
The walkway in the temple must go around the reclining Buddha. It is a one-way path. Do not go back the same way. This point is quite crowded. After leaving the temple, walk north and you will find the Ubosot, which is the most important of the temple. There is only one entrance and an officer will provide advice. Inside, there is the principal Buddha image, Phra Phuttha Thewapatimakorn, which is a Buddha image in a meditation posture.
When I went there, it was under renovation and repair. Inside, it was quiet and suitable for meditation.

Those who are interested in and enjoy visiting temples must not miss it. There are many tourist areas near the temple, such as Tha Tien Market, Siam Museum, etc.

Open daily from 8:00 a.m. to 6:30 p.m., except on important Buddhist holidays.

Average price per person - Free admission for Thais / Only foreigners 200 baht
