Getting enlightened at Wat Paknam Phasi Charoen Bangkok

Wat Paknam Phasi Charoen temple was actually around since 1610, during the Ayutthaya period, but it was a smaller version of its current form. This royal temple is located in the Phasi Charoen district, on the banks of several Bangkok canals.

The temple became well known thanks to the meditation master Luang Pu Sodh Candasaro, who was its abbot during the first half of the 20th century.

Wat Paknam Phasi Charoen has become more popular with tourists since the construction in 2012 of a big stupa named Maharatchamongkhon with a superb vault on the top floor (don’t miss the glass pagoda which is on the 5th floor here!!) as well as the construction of a large 64-meter tall Buddha in front of the stupa which was completed in 2021 and is the tallest Buddha in Bangkok!!
