Wat Pak Nam Phasi Charoen is an ancient temple with a history of more than 400 years, located in Phasi Charoen District, Bangkok. This temple is known for both Buddhism and beautiful architecture. It is also an important place for spreading Dharma and education in Thailand.
Highlights and interesting things about this temple
1. Phra Maha Chedi Maha Ratchamongkol is an 80-meter-high pagoda with beautiful and unique architecture. It stands out with its octagonal shape and intricate patterns. Inside, there are 5 floors in total. The top floor enshrines the Buddha's relics that were brought from Sri Lanka. The 4th floor enshrines the Phra Phuttha Chedi Kaew, which is beautiful and offers a view of Bangkok from a high angle.
2. Phra Phuttha Dhammakaya Thepmongkol Buddha statue, a large Buddha statue in the middle of the water, enshrines the Buddha's relics. It is a highlight spot where people like to pay homage and take pictures.
3. Wat Pak Nam Phasi Charoen has a famous Vipassana meditation institute since the time of Luang Por Sod (Phra Mongkolthepmuni). It is a place for training the mind and practicing Dharma for both Thais and foreigners.
4. A museum that collects the history of Luang Por Sod. Wat Pak Nam Phasi Charoen, including the exhibition of his belongings and various scriptures
Getting there
Wat Pak Nam Phasi Charoen is easily accessible by both private and public transportation. If you travel by BTS, you can get off at Bang Wa Station and then take a songthaew or motorcycle taxi to get there.
Opening and closing times
The temple is open for visits every day from 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. (subject to change depending on the situation).
