🏡Wat Boromniwat Ratchaworawihan, a second-class royal temple, was originally named Wat Borom Suk. People generally call it Wat Nok because it is outside the city walls. It was built and offered to King Rama IV when he was still a monk in 1834. When he ascended the throne, he renovated it with the intention of making it a Thammayut temple of the Aranyawasi sect, along with Wat Bowonniwet Vihara, which is a Thammayut temple of the Kamwasi sect. He gave it the name Wat Boromniwat.
🏠 It was renovated on a large scale by Chao Chom Manda Thapthim during the reign of King Rama V and her sons and daughters.
Important and interesting things in the temple are as follows:
🏠 The Ubosot, a brick and mortar building with a stucco design in the shape of a great crown surrounded by flowers. There are murals by Khrua In Khong. Inside is enshrined Phra Thotsaphon Yan, the principal Buddha image, and a Buddha image in the Mara-Vijaya attitude, cast in the Sukhothai period. Which was invited from Phitsanulok
🛕 The pagoda was built during the reign of King Rama IV. It is round like the Ayutthaya period.
🏕 The sala is a Thai-style brick and mortar building, raised on a high floor. In front of the porch, there is a gable and a raka leaf. It enshrines the Phra Phichitmarathammathamputthakarn, a stucco Buddha image covered in gold lacquer.
🙏🏽 The Nirantarai Buddha is a bronze Buddha image, gilded in the Samadhi Phet posture. Behind it is a glass house and a Bodhi tree with inscriptions in a lotus petal circle. The top of the glass house has a great crown. The base of the Buddha image is a place for bathing water.
