- Wat Prasat Bunyawat was built around 1833. The name of its creator is unknown. It was later renamed "Wat Prasat Bunyawat" around 1944.
- This temple is associated with Luang Pu Thuat. According to legend, around 1955, a major fire destroyed the temple's ordination hall and all of its kuti. At that time, Phra Khru Wisai Sophon (Tim Thammatharo), the abbot of Wat Chang Hai Rat Buranaram, had a vision of Luang Pu Thuat asking him to help restore the temple. During the Ayutthaya period, Luang Pu Thuat often camped in the area. Following this vision, he brought the mold and ingredients for making Luang Pu Thuat amulets and gave them to the temple. This marked the beginning of the creation of Wat Prasat Bunyawat's famous Luang Pu Thuat amulets, which were then used to raise funds for temple restoration.
