**Beijing Forbidden City** was built from 1406 to 1420 and was the residence of 24 emperors of the Ming and Qing Dynasties for over 500 years. It has a total area of 72 hectares, with over 980 buildings and approximately 8,700 to 9,999 rooms, making it the world's largest and best-preserved wooden structure ().
The Forbidden City has the Meridian Gate in the south as its main gate, and boasts a strict central axis layout and the splendid palace aesthetics of red walls and gold tiles. It is a space where not only architecture but also the rituals, politics, and art of the Ming and Qing courts are all condensed, and it was converted into a museum with a collection of over 1.8 million items including palace relics, rare watches, paintings, and crafts, and was opened to the public in 1925 ().
It was registered as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1987, and is a world-famous attraction visited by over 14 million people every year (). Travel tips include making a reservation, entering early, using the exit near the North Gate (神武门), and avoiding the peak noon hours. Inside, you can savor the grandeur of the palace, and the view from the top of Jingshan Park is also a highlight that you can't miss. #ChinaTravelMoment #BeijingTravel #ForbiddenCity
