Let’s talk about why a trip to Beijing truly isn’t complete without a visit to the jaw-dropping Mutianyu Great Wall 🏞️. This stretch of the iconic wall is super photogenic and far less crowded than Badaling, so you’ll actually get those perfect landscape shots!

Top Spot to Visit: Mutianyu Great Wall
Location: Mutianyu Village, Bohai Town, Huairou District, Beijing
Opening Hours:
March 16–Sept 29 (Mon–Fri): 7:30am–6pm, (Sat–Sun): 7:30am–6:30pm
Sept 30–Oct 7: 7am–9pm
Oct 8–Nov 15 (Mon–Fri): 7:30am–6pm, (Sat–Sun): 7:30am–6:30pm
Nov 16–Mar 15: 8am–5:30pm
Last admission is 30 min before closing.
Admission: RMB 45

Getting There:
Honestly, public transport to Mutianyu is easier than people say! 🚇 Jump on the subway (Line 2 or Line 13) to Dongzhimen, then take a Huairou-bound bus or an official tourist shuttle. Get off at Huairou, then grab the local H23, H24, H35, or H36 bus to the Mutianyu Roundabout. It’s less than a 15 min walk to the entrance. Hint: You’ll save plenty over private tours, and it’s stress-free if you double check route signs!

Pro Tips:
- Go early to catch misty mountain views and zero crowds.
- Wear sturdy sneakers – lots of stunning (but uneven) steps!
- Pack snacks + refillable water bottle (restaurant options are limited at the Wall itself).
- Tickets sell out later in the day: arrive by 10am to beat the rush.

Food Rec:
Try village restaurants outside the Wall entrance, serving home-style dumplings and Beijing roast duck – super authentic and wallet-friendly!
