During the last two days of my five-day trip to Beijing, I discovered some authentic local delicacies. Let me share my food and drink diary from those two days. Are you ready to drool?
1. Xiyuanju Shabu-shabu (Wangfujing Branch)
Thanks to Kevin for the invitation. The private room was luxurious, and the service was superb. The mutton hot pot here is absolutely amazing! The meat is tender and succulent, and dipped in their secret sesame sauce, it's a mellow and delicious taste worthy of old Beijing.
2. Ya'er Li Ji (Shichahai Branch)
The mutton offal soup, only available for breakfast at this branch, is delicious and rich, without a hint of mutton. Their braised beef in sesame seed buns is even more amazing. The sesame seed buns are crispy, and the braised beef is generous, flavorful, and tender. It's absolutely delicious! 💯
3. Chagee Bawang Chaji
Finally, I got to drink the Bawang Chaji I'd been craving! The tea base is fragrant, and the milk cap is dense and fluffy. It's truly a popular drink 🥤, but it's not cheap per cup.
4. Wenyu Cheese
The milky flavor is incredibly rich, the texture is smooth and creamy, and the sweetness is just right. I wanted more after finishing it! It's a well-established brand, well worth a try.
5. Xian Lao Man (Gulou Branch)
The portions here are ridiculously generous! The northern dumplings are thin-skinned and generously filled, the hot and sour soup is appetizing and satisfying, and the mixed noodles are incredibly rich in soy sauce. Once again, I'm amazed by the generous portions Northerners give me! 🤣🤣
6. Yonghe Fried Chicken Biscuits
The biscuits are fragrant and crispy right out of the oven. My son loves the juicy fried chicken so much he devoured it 🍗 and didn't leave any for me, his mom...
7. Honghua Dim Sum
I ordered the Three Kingdoms Queen Roll (what a cool name!). It was generously filled with cream and incredibly generous! 😆 And the bag is so cute! It's so girly!
8. Sanyuan Plum Garden (Guozijian Hutong)
The classic double milk roll is a must-try. I only bought the single flavor that day because I'd already had the safflower dessert and was a bit tired. However, the small shop was packed, so it was worth a souvenir.
9. Jiumenxuan Roast Duck (near the Drum Tower)
Before leaving Beijing, my son begged me to try the roast duck again! The skin was crispy, the meat was tender and juicy, and every bite was a happy ending. 🦆
During my five-day trip to Beijing, I ate a lot. 😁 Beijing's food is truly renowned, and every restaurant left a lasting impression. I'll definitely be exploring more delicious places next time I'm in Beijing!
