This day trip to the Beijing suburbs with Guide Chi was truly worthwhile! We began with the morning light at the Badaling Great Wall.

In the afternoon, we moved on to the Summer Palace. He walked along the shores of Kunming Lake, explaining everything from the painted stories of the Long Corridor and the "long rainbow lying on the waves" of the Seventeen-Arch Bridge to the hidden details of imperial life within the Summer Palace. He perfectly blended the historical and aesthetic qualities of the landscape gardens.

Finally, at the Old Summer Palace, Guide Chi didn't just dwell on the ruins. Instead, using a map of the ruins, he meticulously dissected the architectural techniques of the Western-style buildings and the original garden layout. He even explained the meaning of the patterns on the scattered stone carvings, allowing us to experience the splendor and vicissitudes of the past through time. The pace was unhurried, and the explanations were both professional and down-to-earth. We didn't miss any of the highlights of the site, and the day was incredibly rewarding. I cannot thank Guide Chi enough!
