A Visit to the West Causeway of the Rear Lake in the Summer Palace

The weather is clear and pleasant, perfect for an autumn trip to the Summer Palace. Entering through the East Palace Gate, the Long Corridor of Leshou Hall and Yulan Hall is bustling with visitors. Turning north, you pass through the Xiequ Garden and head straight to the Rear Lake.
The colorful autumn leaves are reflected in the lake, displaying a brilliant array of reds and purples. Visitors stop to admire and take photos, enjoying themselves immensely.
The ancient willows gently brush the West Causeway, with scattered withered lotus pods. Modeled after the Su Causeway of West Lake in Hangzhou, the causeway features six bridges: Jiehu Bridge, Binfeng Bridge, Yudai Bridge, Jing Bridge, Lian Bridge, and Liu Bridge. In the middle stands Jingming Tower, named after the phrase "Spring Harmony and Bright Scenery" from Fan Zhongyan’s "Memorial to Yueyang Tower." Jing Bridge is inspired by Li Bai’s poem "Two waters flank a bright mirror, twin bridges fall like rainbows." Lian Bridge and Liu Bridge are named after poems by Xie Tiao and Bai Juyi, respectively.
As the sun sets in the west, Mount Yuquan in the evening mist looks like an ink painting that captivates visitors.
It brings to mind the Yuan dynasty poet Bai Pu’s "Tianjingsha. Autumn": "A solitary village, sunset and lingering clouds, light smoke, old trees, cold crows, a lone wild goose flying beneath." Green mountains, clear waters, white grass, red leaves, and yellow flowers. In his words, autumn seems like a colorful palette that enchants the soul.
Subway Line 4 reaches East Palace Gate and North Palace Gate, the Western Suburb Line goes to the West Gate, and buses reach the newly built Palace Gate. All routes are very convenient.
