Beppu, the renowned onsen city on Kyushu Island, is not only famous for its colorful hot springs (Jigoku Meguri) but also for being surrounded by the breathtaking hues of autumn leaves during late fall!
Amazing autumn travel ideas
Jigoku Meguri amidst vibrant colors: Stroll through the eight "hell" hot springs, especially "Umi Jigoku" (Sea Hell) with its turquoise blue waters and "Chinoike Jigoku" (Blood Pond Hell) with its crimson red waters. These springs are set against a backdrop of mountains and trees turning red and yellow, perfectly contrasting with the rising hot steam.
Beppu Ropeway to the peak: Take a cable car up Mount Tsurumi (Tsurumidake) to enjoy a panoramic view of Beppu City and Beppu Bay, adorned with the vibrant colors of autumn as far as the eye can see. The best time to visit is from mid-October to mid-November.
Relax in warm onsen: After admiring the beauty of the autumn leaves, nothing beats soaking in a hot spring to warm up and rejuvenate your skin in the cool, pleasant weather.
Recommended time: Generally, the leaves start changing color from mid to late October, peaking in November (and sometimes lasting into early December in certain areas).
Beppu... a paradise that perfectly blends the fiery wonders of nature with the beauty of autumn! Pack your bags and experience this unique destination in Japan!
