I traveled from Lille in northern France to Brussels, the capital of Belgium, in about 30 minutes by TGV (inoui). Although it was unfortunately raining, the city is compact and easy to explore on foot. The central Grand Place, a UNESCO World Heritage site, is surrounded by historic buildings and is truly impressive in its size. Walking along the side streets, you can easily find many chocolate shops, the famous waffle shop Dandoy (which seemed to have pre-made waffles), and the Manneken Pis statue. Belgian fries, or frites, paired with Belgian beer were fantastic! A day is enough to fully enjoy sightseeing in Brussels, so I highly recommend it.
