Visiting the Seokdang Museum at Dong-A University felt like embarking on a time travel journey right in the heart of Busan. The grand and antique building creates a serene atmosphere despite being located in the city center, with its quiet surroundings and open views leaving a lasting impression. Upon entering, visitors are greeted by well-organized exhibition spaces showcasing artifacts from various eras. The collection is surprisingly rich, featuring national treasures, cultural assets, and other captivating relics. Particularly moving was the chance to see precious items like the writings of independence activist Ahn Jung-geun, which I had only encountered in history books before.
The exhibitions are thoughtfully arranged by sections, making it easy to understand the cultural and historical characteristics of each era. Despite the relatively compact space, the layout is efficient, allowing for a leisurely exploration. Admission is free, making it accessible, and the lack of crowds ensures a quiet and reflective viewing experience. Outside, there is an outdoor exhibition area with stone artifacts and a beautifully maintained garden, perfect for a relaxing stroll.
