In Changsha, there's a hiking trail that captures the essence of lakes, mountains, and wild fun all in one go – Meixi Lake Park → Taohualing Park. Along the way, you'll journey from an urban sanctuary deep into the wilderness, with every step offering healing scenery.
First Stop: Meixi Lake Park, a blue-green poetic painting in the city
In the early morning, Meixi Lake resembles a piece of jade. The lakeside boardwalk is enveloped by green trees, and the lake water shimmers under the sunlight. Walking near Festival Island, the artistic buildings and lake views complement each other beautifully; passing by the Meixi Lake Grand Theater, the streamlined 'shell' architecture stands out beautifully against the blue sky. If you happen to be there in the evening, you might even catch an orange-pink sunset, casting a gentle filter over the lake.
Second Stop: Taohualing Park, an oxygen-rich sanctuary amidst the mountains and forests
From Meixi Lake, walk up the small path next to the High School Affiliated to Hunan Normal University. There's a pedestrian path that leads directly to Taohualing, initiating a mountain and forest climbing experience.
- Descend to Taohualing Reservoir, a clear blue body of water nestled among the mountains. On a clear day, the blue sky and green mountains reflect on the water, as if you've stumbled into a 'mini Jiuzhaigou';
- Continue down the main road, and Diequan Waterfall is the second surprise, where the water cascades down in layers, and the splashing mist carries the fresh scent of plants;
- If you have ample time, explore the wild paths in the forest, and you might discover hidden viewpoints overlooking the entire Meixi Lake area, where the boundary between city and nature blurs.
