Everything you need to know about the ultimate summer adventure at Maoshan Forest World Rafting!
1. Rafting Highlights: A thrilling paradise hidden in sacred mountains
Known as the "First Blessed Land and Eighth Cave Heaven" in Taoist tradition, Maoshan's mountain streams were once used by Taoist priests for alchemy. Now transformed into a 3.8km forest rafting course, it offers both exhilarating rapids through dense canyons and leisurely water play areas. Visiting in July is perfect for cooling off in this "mystical" atmosphere!
2. Transportation Guide: Self-driving recommended
- By car: About 1.5 hours from downtown Changzhou. Navigate to "Maoshan Forest World Visitor Center". Parking costs ¥5/hour with free shuttle buses to the rafting starting point.
- Public transport: Take Changzhou Bus Jintan 258 to "Maoshan Visitor Center Station", then a 10-minute walk.
3. Tickets & Hours: Save money without missing the fun
- Cost: Park entry ¥80, rafting separately ¥120 (combo ticket ¥180 is better value!). Children under 1.2m get free park entry but need adult supervision for rafting.
- Hours: Park open 8:30-17:00, last rafting entry at 16:00. Arrive early to avoid crowds!
4. Rafting Experience: 1.5 hours of double fun
3.8km course with 128m elevation drop:
- First half: Exciting rapids through dense canyons with splashing waves
- Second half: Leisurely water play area perfect for family water fights, featuring photo spots like "Alchemy Furnace" and "Immortal Cave"
5. Must-bring Items: Don't forget these essentials
- Quick-dry clothes (avoid white - it gets see-through!) and water shoes (¥50/pair at site, better bring your own)
- Waterproof phone case, sun hat (for sun and water protection), change of clothes (essential after rafting)
- Waterproof sunscreen like "Coppertone Water Babies" to avoid streaking
6. Nearby Activities: Don't leave right after rafting
- Park features petting zoo, rainbow slide, and forest train - great for family fun
- Try local specialty "Stinky Mandarin Fish" at "Maoshan Flavors" restaurant (about ¥60/person)
7. Important Notes: Safety first
- No rafting during menstruation or while intoxicated
- Storage lockers available (¥5/locker)
- Weekends get crowded - visit on weekdays for better experience!
