"Doi Luang Chiang Dao": A once-in-a-lifetime experience you'll want to experience. 🌿🍃
Doi Luang Chiang Dao is the third-highest peak in Thailand, rising 2,275 meters above sea level. It's home to a diverse range of protected and preserved wildlife, as well as rare plant species, some found only at Doi Luang Chiang Dao. 🌼
The distance from the starting point to the summit is 8.5 kilometers (17 kilometers round trip). We'll trek through pine forests, grasslands, and evergreen forests. Along the way, we'll encounter a diverse range of herbaceous and shrubby plants, a sub-alpine plant community that is a key feature of Doi Luang Chiang Dao. UNESCO has also designated it a new World Biosphere Reserve, making it the fifth biosphere reserve in Thailand. 🇹🇭
Before the actual trek, we had to attend a training session with the park staff one day beforehand to understand the rules and ensure strict adherence. There are flush toilets at the campsite, but showers are not allowed. They're only for light cleaning. You must use the provided bags, which are biodegradable and environmentally friendly. You must bring back as much trash as you can, as there's a trash deposit before the trek. Please refrain from touching or picking any flowers or plants in the park, as this could kill them. 🌸🌺🪻
📆 Open for trekking from November to February of each year.
