Wat Chedi Luang, Chiang Mai Province

I had the chance to visit Wat Chedi Luang Worawihan in Chiang Mai city because it was not far from my accommodation. When I went, there were not many tourists, so I got a quiet atmosphere and was able to focus on worshiping the Buddha and walking around the temple.

A memorable highlight is the ancient Chedi Luang, which was originally about 80 meters high (in the past, it was considered the tallest pagoda in Lanna). Although the top of the pagoda has collapsed from an earthquake in the 16th century, it is still very beautiful and powerful. Standing and looking at it, I felt the greatness of the past.

Another impressive point was paying homage to the Buddha statue inside the royal chapel. The atmosphere inside is peaceful, cool, and has a certain power that makes the mind more calm.

Wat Chedi Luang is also home to the Inthakhil Pillar or the City Pillar of Chiang Mai, which is highly revered by the people of Chiang Mai.
