Wat Klang Wiang, Chiang Rai
An ancient temple in the center of Chiang Rai City, home to the Chiang Rai City Pillar Shrine or the City Pillar, along with a pumpkin-shaped Mankhapa with a pointed top.
The chapel is built in Lanna architecture. In front, there is a staircase in the shape of a naga spitting out of the mouth of a serpent, and a pair of statues of a lion and a Tung Kradang. Inside is the enshrined Phra Chao Phet Mongkhon Muni, a stucco Buddha image in the Mara-Vijaya attitude, which was originally in the Tai Khun style of art, but was renovated by building over the original in the Lanna style and gilding the entire body.
Phra That Chang Kham is a chedi built to cover the original Pancha Mahathat Chedi. The base of the chedi is surrounded by decorated elephants, supporting an octagonal bell-shaped body, decorated with niches and many Buddha images.
