Wat Ming Muang, Chiang Rai

.. It is an old Tai Yai temple that is as old as Chiang Rai city. It is located at the corner of the intersection on Trairat Road, near Samakkhi Witthayakhom School.

.. In the past, there was a Tai Yai community that believed in Buddhism living around the temple. They jointly built religious buildings and religious objects in the Tai Yai-Burmese style.

.. Chiang Rai people like to call it Wat Chang Moob, which is a northern dialect word meaning the crouching elephant temple. This is because this temple is important because it is related to the elephant that was the companion of King Mengrai the Great of the Lanna Kingdom, the founder of Chiang Rai city.
