Yaowarat Road, a Chinese community in Bangkok 🇨🇳

Yaowarat Road is home to the largest Chinese community in Thailand. 🏮🚶♂️

The Chinese began trading with the Thais during the reign of King Rama I, when the commercial center was located around the Ratchawong Pier. Later, during the reign of King Rama V, the road was built to promote trade, and it was graciously named Yaowarat Road.

Today, Yaowarat Road is known to tourists worldwide as a popular street food destination. There are both indoor and street-side restaurants offering a wide variety of international cuisine, from savory dishes to sweet treats. There is also a market selling fresh and dried food, including ingredients for cooking, and a variety of colorful Chinese clothing.

Yaowarat Road is also the venue for important Chinese festivals, such as the Chinese New Year (in January) and the Vegetarian Festival (around October). The road is also home to religious sites representing various religions, including Hinayana and Mahayana Buddhism, Christianity, and Islam, as well as numerous shrines dedicated to Chinese deities. There are also many beautiful old buildings with beautiful architecture. Open daily from 6:00 AM to 11:00 PM.
