Phra That Sri Chom Thong

Phra That Si Chom Thong or Wat Phra That Si Chom Thong Worawihan is located in Chom Thong District, Chiang Mai Province. It is a third-class royal temple, Worawihan type, and is one of the most important sacred places in the North, especially for those born on Sunday.

Highlights of Phra That Si Chom Thong:
• Contains the relics of the Lord Buddha (bone relics from the forehead) which have been confirmed to be genuine relics.
• The pagoda is in the Lanna Thai style, made of bricks and mortar, beautifully lacquered and gilded.
• It is the relic of the day of birth for those born on Sunday, according to the beliefs of the Lanna people.
• There is a bathing ceremony for the relics and important traditional events during Visakha Bucha Day and the 15th day of the waxing moon of the 9th lunar month (around May-June).

History:
• It is believed to have been built during the reign of Queen Chamadevi of Hariphunchai around the 13th Buddhist century.
• The relics were enshrined at Doi Chom Thong, which has been a sacred place since ancient times.
