The ceiling of the Dali Ancient Town guesthouse far exceeds all expectations

The wind in Dali is lazy, and the clouds are in no hurry to leave; they’re happy to linger a while longer at Boxin Yun She. Staying in this little world of MCA, you’ll understand why people in Yunnan never say “watching clouds” — because here, the clouds come right into your room on their own.
Open the window, and Cangshan Mountain unfolds like a painting right before your eyes. No need to get up early to chase the sunrise; just lie on the extended tatami and watch the morning light turn the sea of clouds golden. The clouds here are so low, it feels like you could reach out and tuck a handful into your pillow. In the afternoon, sitting at the tea table daydreaming, you’ll notice something interesting: the hustle and bustle of the ancient town automatically mutes once it reaches the hotel courtyard, leaving only the sound of wind chimes under the eaves and the traces of passing clouds.
The rooftop viewing platform is a delightful surprise. In the evening, order a cup of Fenghua Xueyue beer here and watch the sunset tie a pink-purple sash around the Cangshan range. The housekeeper said we were lucky; a few days ago, guests stayed three nights in a row without seeing the sea of clouds — but actually, on clear days, the mist rising from the eighteen streams of Cangshan always arrives punctually at the window in the morning.
Be sure to choose a mountain-view room with a balcony. One night it suddenly rained, and when I woke up, the clouds had drifted into the room. At that moment, I suddenly understood the true meaning of “Boxin” — it’s not about deliberately seeking seclusion, but about letting the scenery settle naturally in your heart.
Tips:
1. The South Gate Market is an 8-minute walk away; it’s recommended to buy some wild mushrooms for the kitchen to prepare.
2. The rooftop garden swing is a hidden photo spot; wearing a white long dress makes for even better pictures.
3. Don’t rush to close the windows on rainy days; the rain in Dali comes with its own magical filter.
📍Address: No. 44 Wenxian Road, South Gate, Dali Ancient Town
(The housekeeper will prepare fresh flower cakes and warm goodnight milk; remember to tell them your taste preferences)
