Dihua Ancient Town

Dihua Ancient Town, located in Danfeng County, Shangluo City, Shaanxi Province, is named for its abundance of kerria flowers (Dihua flowers) in its early years. It also symbolizes the deep bond of brotherhood, inspired by an allusion in the Book of Songs.

This ancient town, steeped in history, was once an important post station on the Shangyu Ancient Road. The Tang Dynasty poet Bai Juyi passed through it three times and left the poem, "I heard from afar that I was staying in a hotel and dreamt of my brothers. This is why the post station is named Dihua."

Dihua Ancient Town is also the hometown of renowned writer Jia Pingwa, who inspired the Qingfeng Street in his novel "Qin Opera."

Key attractions of the ancient town include Songjin Street (formerly the dividing line between the Southern Song and Jin dynasties, with street paving patterns differing significantly between the north and the south), Qingfeng Street, the thousand-acre lotus pond, the Jia Pingwa Literature Museum and former residence, and the Erlang Temple, the only remaining Jin Dynasty structure in Shaanxi Province.

This area blends history, culture, and ecology, offering an ideal place to experience the cultural heritage and natural beauty of the eastern Qinling Mountains. Admission is free. There is a large parking lot at the entrance of the ancient town, complete with charging stations. It's right off the Shanghai-Shaanxi Expressway, just outside Danfengkou. Perfect for a drive.

It was quite deserted here, with many restaurants closed. I managed a bowl of dumplings to fill my stomach.
