Review of the route from Davao Airport to Island Garden, Samal Island
Upon arrival at Davao International Airport (DVO), you can choose to take a taxi or Grab to Sasa Wharf, which is the main ferry port for crossing to Samal Island. The journey takes about 15-20 minutes and costs 150-250 PHP (according to the Sasa Wharf ferry schedule).
At Sasa Wharf, there are RoRo (Roll-on/Roll-off) ferries available throughout the day. The journey takes about 10-15 minutes and costs 10-15 PHP for passengers. If you bring your car across, there will be an additional fee.
Upon arrival at Samal Island, tourists can choose to use a motorcycle taxi (Habal-Habal), tricycle (Tricycle) or private rental car to travel to Island Garden. The distance and time depends on the exact destination. By motorbike taxi is the most convenient and fastest way to travel on the island, but you have to bargain carefully because you might get overcharged. It is best to agree on a price before you travel.
Overall, it takes about 40-60 minutes to travel from Davao Airport to Island Garden, Samal Island, depending on the convenience of connecting to transportation and ferries.
Island Garden is a good trip to do as a side trip to Davao for those who want a relaxing place to stay with reasonable expenses.
