The main draw of Monsopiad Cultural Village is undoubtedly the Siou Do Mohoing (House of Skulls). It is a profoundly unique and somewhat chilling experience. Seeing the 42 genuine human skulls—the actual trophies of the legendary Kadazan warrior Monsopiad—hanging from the rafters gives you an authentic, raw connection to a long-gone era of Borneo's headhunting history. Our guide was a direct descendant of the warrior, and the storytelling was vivid and compelling. While the rest of the village offers traditional houses and artifacts, the House of Skulls makes this village distinct from any other cultural experience in Sabah.
