Portugal 🇵🇹 Fatima Shrine ⛪️

On this trip to Portugal, I made a special trip to the Fatima Basilica. This place is a sacred site for Catholics worldwide, and much like the Mazu pilgrimage in Taiwan, it guides believers on a journey of faith and spirituality.

The square is incredibly large, its white pavement gleaming in the sun. In the center is the Chapel of Our Lady of Apparitions, flanked by the majestic cathedral. The sacred feeling is like the first time you walk into a Mazu temple in Beigang or Dajia and see the throngs of people. You'll also see many believers kneeling all the way to the Chapel, expressing their deepest devotion. The scene is truly moving, evoking the perseverance of Taiwanese people who walk thousands of miles in pursuit of Mazu, sweating profusely to complete the journey. 🙏

Whether you're Catholic or not, coming here will bring you a sense of tranquility and strength, much like the feeling of protection and blessing that comes with following the Mazu pilgrimage. ✨

For me, this trip to Fatima wasn't just about sightseeing; it was a spiritual cleansing. 💙

🇵🇹 Fatima Sanctuary of Our Lady ⛪️

On this trip to Portugal, we made sure to visit Fatima, one of the holiest sites for Catholics worldwide. It feels very much like Taiwan’s Mazu Pilgrimage, guiding the faithful along a journey of devotion and the spirit.

The square is unbelievably vast, with its white pavement shining brightly under the sun. At the center stands the Chapel of the Apparitions, and beside it, the grand basilica. The sacred atmosphere reminded me of stepping into Beigang or Dajia Mazu Temples for the first time—surrounded by crowds, feeling that overwhelming sense of reverence.

I also saw many pilgrims kneeling and making their way to the chapel, showing their deepest devotion. It felt just like people in Taiwan who walk for days following Mazu, persevering through sweat and hardship, which was truly moving. 🙏

Even if you’re not Catholic, you can feel a sense of peace and strength here—just like walking with Mazu during the pilgrimage, when you’re filled with the comforting sense of being protected and blessed. ✨

For me, this trip to Fatima was more than sightseeing—it was a cleansing of the soul. 💙
