The artistic Basilica of San Lorenzo in Florence

The Basilica di San Lorenzo in Florence was designed as a chapel by the Medici family. Brunelleschi remodeled the pre-existing medieval church in 1419, but the facade was left unfinished. The Cappella dei Principi, designed by Matteo Nigetti in 1604, features an intricate and ornate interior inlaid with marble and precious stones.

The Medici Chapels, part of the complex, and particularly the Sagrestia Nuova, were designed and constructed by Michelangelo in 1520 as mausoleums for members of the Medici family.

The main artworks on display include Adrea Roggi's Tree of Life and Human Imagination.
