Fukui… Do you like it?

I went on a day trip to Fukui, the city of dinosaurs! 🦕

Fukui, a small city in Japan 🚌
I took the highway bus from Nagoya to Fukui.

Travel time: Approximately 3 hours (with one rest stop along the way)

Perhaps because Fukui is a city known for its abundant dinosaur fossils,
everything from its iconic mascots to the dinosaur theme park felt like a place to visit. 😝

Since I was only visiting for a day,
I took the Fukui City -> Tojinbo / Mikuni Sunset Beach 🏖️ route :)

In this post, I'll share some must-see spots around Fukui Station. 😗

📍Dinosaur Square
: Located right in front of Fukui Station, Dinosaur Square is a prime photo spot with moving dinosaurs, resembling a dinosaur theme park. 📸

📍Yashiro Shrine (Highly recommended)

: A small but charming shrine! The omamori sold at this shrine are especially cute 🥹 I couldn't help but buy one >.< Also, since Fukui is the hometown of popular NCT WISH member Riku, the fans' pilgrimage moments were especially noteworthy ✨🥰

📍Fukui Castle Ruins (soso)
: Do you really have to go just because there's a castle ruin? No, not really.

📍Yoroppagen (Main Branch)
: The main branch of Yoroppagen, famous for its sauce tonkatsu! It's so popular that there's a wait even though it's only just opened. 🍖🩷 I ordered the ladies' set and was so, so, so satisfied~

📍Yokokan Garden
: Unfortunately, I couldn't go due to health issues 🥹, but many who have visited have been satisfied with the Yokokan Garden! (Admission fee applies)

Recommended Route ‼️
: Fukui Station -> Yoroppagen Main Store -> Yashiro Shrine -> Fukui Castle Ruins -> Yokokan Garden -> Dinosaur Plaza

Please note that this route took approximately 3 to 3.5 hours, with a stop at Tojinbo/Mikuni Sunset Beach. 🥰

Fukui Travel Tips:

1️⃣ If you're heading to Tojinbo/Mikuni Sunset Beach, be sure to stop by the Fukui Station Tourist Information Center! (Chargeable, restrooms available)

2️⃣ Explore the area around Fukui Station, home to a variety of Fukui souvenirs, dinosaur products, cafes, and restaurants.

3️⃣ Hot summers... Since there aren't many tall buildings, an umbrella is a must! 🌂
