Enjoy a picnic and cherry blossom viewing with the locals in Fukuoka.

When traveling to Japan during the cherry blossom season, we often wonder where the Japanese celebrate their Hanami (flower viewing) festival. Today, we found the answer by visiting Uminonakanichi Seaside Park. From Tenjin-minami Station, taking the 25A bus directly to the park, the bus was full of Japanese people dressed in their finest attire, carrying camping gear, and carrying their children and grandchildren. When we reached Marine World Uminonakamichi Station, we all got off at the same time. From the station, it was almost a half-hour walk. They rent bicycles and scooters, but we were afraid of falling, so we walked slowly. The weather was also nice. I recommend getting a map in front of the park, which you can grab or take photos of, as the park is incredibly large. There's a playground and an aquarium, but the highlight of our visit today was the blue flower field, also known as Nemophila, in full bloom alongside the cherry blossoms. Luckily, we visited during peak season, but it was also crowded. Japanese people were laying out Hanami mats everywhere.
