Brunch Bliss at Norm Micro Roastery, Penang 🍝🍵

Sundays are for slow mornings, good company, and soul-warming food — and today I found myself at Norm Micro Roastery, one of Penang’s most beautiful brunch spots. 🌿☕️ If you’ve ever been here, you’ll know the vibe: soaring ceilings, sunlight streaming through glass panels, the smell of freshly roasted coffee filling the air, and that minimalist-meets-industrial interior that just makes you want to sit a little longer. It’s the kind of place where brunch doesn’t just feel like a meal, it feels like a little escape.

For my spread today, I went in with the mindset of “why choose one when I can have them all?” 😂 And trust me, it was worth every bite.

🍚 Risotto – Creamy, comforting, and rich in every spoonful. It had that perfect balance of indulgence without being too heavy, the kind of dish that instantly makes you slow down and savor. Each bite was layered with flavor, and honestly, I could have polished this off on my own if I wasn’t saving space for the rest.

🍳 Shakshuka – One of my all-time brunch favorites, and Norm’s version did not disappoint. The vibrant tomato base, spiced just right, cradling soft-baked eggs — it was hearty, tangy, and so satisfying with crusty bread to dip in. It felt like a warm hug on a plate, something you’d want on both lazy mornings and rainy afternoons.

🍝 Pomodoro Pasta – A simple classic, but done so well here. Al dente pasta with a bright, tangy tomato sauce that wasn’t too sharp — instead, it had this homely sweetness to it, bringing out the natural flavor of the tomatoes. Sometimes the simplest dishes are the hardest to perfect, and this one hit all the right notes. Light enough to balance the richer risotto and shakshuka, yet flavorful enough to stand on its own.

🍵 Matcha Latte – No brunch is complete without a cozy drink, and this one was a treat. Smooth, earthy, and not overly sweet, it had that deep umami matcha flavor that makes you pause between bites. Served warm, it paired beautifully with the dishes and rounded out the meal in the most calming way.

What I love most about Norm Micro Roastery isn’t just the food (though clearly, that’s reason enough to keep coming back). It’s the atmosphere — airy, photogenic, and full of that gentle hum of people chatting, working, or just enjoying their moment. It’s one of those places where you can come solo with a book, on a date, or with friends, and it always feels just right.

📸 And yes, every corner is ridiculously Instagram-worthy — from the coffee counter to the rustic stone walls to the plates that come out looking like edible art. The kind of place where you snap a photo of your food but then forget your phone because you’re too busy actually enjoying it.

Walking out, I felt that perfect mix of full belly + full heart. 💛 Brunch here is not just about eating; it’s about soaking in the calm, the flavors, and the little joy of treating yourself. Norm Micro Roastery — you’ve got me hooked, and I can’t wait to be back.
