I thought the cloudy weather would spoil the fun, but I didn’t expect that Shamian, shrouded in clouds and mist, actually has another kind of moving charm! There were lightning and thunder a few days ago. It was lucky to catch the cloudy but not rainy day.

Walking through the area, you will see European-style buildings and ancient trees complementing each other. The Baroque carved arches, dome-shaped spires, every brick and tile carries stories of the past; and the towering ancient trees have intricate roots, bark covered with old wrinkles, and branches stretching towards the sky like strong arms, adding a sense of vastness and depth to the neighborhood. The breeze blew, and the leaves rustled, which made the scene even more pleasant than a sunny day.

I can't help but picture the sunshine in my mind - the golden light shines through the branches and leaves, casting mottled shadows on the walls and stone roads. The flow of light and shadow must be beautiful like a dream. But at this moment, Shamian on a cloudy day lacks the warmth of the scorching sun and is more reserved and meaningful. Walking through it is like flipping through a thick history album, and every page is worth savoring.

No matter it is sunny or rainy, Shamian can always capture people's hearts with its unique posture. This is probably the most touching romance of the old city!
