Tao Tao Ju, a Michelin guide dim sum restaurant in Guangzhou

Tao Tao Ju (陶陶居) is one of Guangzhou's most famous and oldest dim sum restaurants, having been in business since 1880. This is a 145-year-old tradition, and it's been awarded the Michelin Guide for several consecutive years.

📍This branch is located on the 7th floor of Tee Mall, Beijing Road, Guangzhou. You'll see the restaurant right out of the elevator. When I visited in the morning, around noon, there were already a long line of people waiting outside. There were already over ten people, but the queue moved quickly. I waited about 10-15 minutes before my turn came.

🪟 The restaurant's interior is decorated in a luxurious, traditional Chinese style. Seating is divided into zones, offering a sense of privacy.

📱To order, you must scan your mobile phone to order. You can do this through the Alipay or WeChat app. The app provides photos and a translation option. I recommend translating the order into English, as it's easier to understand than the Thai translation. Then, you can simply click and order within the app. Then, the staff printed out the order form and placed it at the table.

🥢 Order from the recommended menu and simply point to the one you want to try. We ordered four items in total.
- Red Roll: This is a must-order. The dough has multiple layers: a soft red dough on the outside, a crispy fried dough layer similar to a spring roll, and a shrimp filling inside. It was a unique texture I'd never had before, but it was delicious.
- Shrimp Dumplings: This is a must-order. It was incredibly delicious! The dough was thin and chewy, and the filling was full of shrimp. It was overflowing with shrimp. A 10/10 rating.
- Porridge: This was pretty good, but not a must-order.
- Stir-fried Vegetables: This was so-so, with little flavor, but it was incredibly rich.
- Shrimp Wonton Noodles: The noodles were good, and the wontons were delicious, but the soup was salty, like salt had spilled over it. It had a strong sea flavor. It was so-so, so salty you'd want to keep eating.

⭐️⭐️⭐️ Summary of what to order: You can order the recommended menu or the menu that other reviews recommend. But the shrimp dishes, or the ones with shrimp fillings, are truly delicious. Order them! The shrimp are bouncy and full of shrimp. Truly delicious! You won't be disappointed if you order them.
