Goryokaku Park

The symbol of Hakodate, Hokkaido is Goryokaku.
It is the site of the Hakodate War, in which the former Shogunate army and the new government army fought during the Meiji Restoration.
Now, it is one of Hokkaido's best cherry blossom spots, with about 1,500 cherry trees in bloom.
Furthermore, like Matsumae Fukuyama Castle, it is known as the earliest cherry blossom spot in Hokkaido.
The expected cherry blossom season in Hakodate in 2025 is April 24th, and full bloom is April 28th.
*This may vary depending on the weather.
Viewing the cherry blossoms at Goryokaku If you want to see the cherry blossoms, the best place is the observation deck at Goryokaku Tower.
You can see the entire castle with a pentagram, which is a spectacular sight.
There is also a statue of Toshizo Hijikata, who played an active role in the Battle of Hakodate.
In terms of photogenic quality, I personally think it is better to go early in the morning.
The shadow of the tower falls on Goryokaku...
Also, the cherry blossoms of Goryokaku Park seen from the lobby on the first floor look like a picture frame of cherry blossoms, so it is a hidden gem that is highly recommended.
