Heilongjiang Provincial Museum is a comprehensive museum that collects, protects, studies and displays the historical culture, natural resources and artworks of Heilongjiang Province. It is a national first-class museum and an important window to understand Heilongjiang.
1. History:
• Early establishment: At the beginning of the 20th century, the Middle East Railway opened, and a group of Russian scholars proposed to establish a museum in Harbin. After approval, the East Province Cultural Relics Research Association was established. The exhibition hall was rebuilt from the Moscow Mall (now the main building of the Provincial Museum) and was established and opened to the public on June 12, 1923.
• Changing period: After that, it was renamed several times. From 1929 to 1946, it was successively renamed as the East Province Special Zone Research Association (Exhibition Hall), the East Province Special Zone Cultural Relics Research Institute, the pseudo-North Manchuria Special Zone Cultural Relics Research Institute, the Harbin Branch of the Continental Academy of Sciences (Museum), and the Harbin Geological Museum. After Japan surrendered in 1946, it was renamed Harbin Institute of Technology Permanent Transportation Economic Exhibition Hall, etc. Until 1954, Songjiang Province was incorporated into Heilongjiang Province, and Songjiang Provincial Museum merged with the Preparatory Office of Heilongjiang Provincial Museum to establish Heilongjiang Provincial Museum, which has been used ever since.
2. Architectural layout:
• Venue design: The total construction area is 15,960 square meters, of which the main building was built in 1906 and completed in 1908. The new museum has a planned area of 150,000 square meters and a construction area of 80,000 square meters. It is divided into three areas: the theme building area, the front square area and the sustainable development area.
