#chinatravel Harbin Zhongyang Pedestrian Walking Street 哈尔滨中央大街 stretches almost 2km and is the longest pedestrian street in China.
It takes 30 mins to walk from the main entrance to the other end which reaches the underpass that leads to the Stalin Park, the Harbin Flood Control Memorial Tower and Songhua River.
Places Worth Mentioning :
1. Russian Supermarket and Russian bakery
- Fronted by a blue polar bear
- You can buy all sorts of Russian products from alcohol to chocolates
- There is a Russian bakery inside selling huge loafs of bread and other specialities but is rather pricey. Loved the pineapple ring bread xoxo
2. 譚木匠
- a niche wooden comb brand from China.
- Bought a few combs from them
3. Smelly Toufu
- I simply love this and eat this in every Chinese city I visit !
4. 锅包肉
- This famous deep fried pork dish originated from Harbin and the original restaurant老厨家 is located right on the street
- Other restaurants serve this too as well as street snack stalks
5. Lao Chang Chun Bing 老昌春饼
- Somewhat like our local popiah but the skin is slightly thicker and we can roll in fried meat, egg, vegetables etc on a DIY basis and eat based on the sides we order.
- Super filling so don't overdo order (like me)
6. Horse Carriage Monument
- On a side street where there is a long queue for local freshly baked chimney bread, is a life sized bronzed horse carriage. You can climb onto it and take selfies !
7. Red Sausage
- A local sausage speciality practically sold in every shop.
8. Chimney Bread
- Century old traditional bread which is a must try and all bakeries there sell it
There are plenty of food stalls and souvenir shops along the entire street. And if you worry you can't adapt to local food, there's always KFC, Macdonald's and even Yoshinoya !
