Miyajima is the kind of place that makes you slow down the moment you step off the ferry. Just a short trip from Hiroshima, this little island is full of beauty, tradition, and that special calm you only find when you’re near the sea.
The highlight, of course, is Itsukushima Shrine—a UNESCO World Heritage site with its famous floating torii gate. Seeing it up close, especially at high tide, is unforgettable. It’s one of those moments that feels both peaceful and powerful.
I spent the day strolling through the island’s charming streets, saying hello to friendly deer and stopping for local snacks. The island vibe is super relaxed—perfect for a weekend reset.
For the night, I stayed at Kinsuikan, a lovely ryokan just minutes from the shrine. The warm hospitality, traditional meals, and onsen made it the perfect place to unwind after a full day of exploring 🛏️⛩️
Why I recommend Miyajima:
・You can experience iconic Japanese heritage and island nature all in one place
・It’s an easy weekend trip that feels like a real escape
