Standing tall in the middle of a modern park, the old airport control tower in Hefei is a surreal reminder of how fast a city can change. Once guiding planes in and out of the skies, it now watches over joggers, cyclists, and picnicking families instead.

The tower has been beautifully preserved, blending industrial nostalgia with peaceful greenery. Around it, the former runway has transformed into wide walking paths and open lawns, making it one of the most unique urban parks in China.

It’s strange — but in the best way — to look at this structure and imagine roaring aircraft where now children fly kites. A perfect mix of history, creativity, and second chances.
