Visiting Dazhao in Hohhot, Inner Mongolia

I visited Dazhao (also known as Wuliang Temple in Chinese), a Tibetan Buddhist holy site located in Hohhot, a city in the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region. Dazhao is a famous temple where both Emperor Shunzhi and Emperor Kangxi of the Qing Dynasty once stayed. The vibrant colors of Buddhist art against the bright blue winter sky make the temple incredibly beautiful. The temple features prayer wheels, which are said to accumulate merit with each turn, and various divine beasts are enshrined there. The most beautiful Bodhisattva statues and paintings are housed inside the buildings, and photography is prohibited, so I can't share them here, but they are truly impressive and worth a visit. The solemn and serene atmosphere inside the buildings is very awe-inspiring. You can sometimes hear the low chanting of the monks. Access is easy as there are many taxis in front of the rotary at Hohhot Station. Although English and Japanese are not spoken, the drivers are kind and will take you to Dazhao if you show them the name written in Chinese characters. It takes about 15 minutes from the station. The area around Dazhao is a temple town with restaurants and antique shops. I was surprised to see a KFC there (laughs). 🏖️ Atmosphere/Facilities: Solemn 📍 Location: Hohhot
