Local Travel | Staycation | Mandarin Oriental Hong Kong | Dining

Waffles and his mom recently enjoyed a #Staycation package at the #Mandarin Oriental Hotel in Hong Kong, which included a three-course dinner and breakfast.

Let me first introduce dinner, which can be enjoyed in the room or at Cafe Causette. My mother chose to dine in the room and the food cart delivered it on time.

For the appetizer, you can choose Mandarin lobster soup, crab meat and avocado salad or mushroom beef fillet roll with teriyaki sauce. Waffles and my mother both chose Mandarin lobster soup. Why is there only lobster meat in the bowl? Because the soup is in the thermos, the temperature of the lobster soup can be maintained, which is very considerate.

There are two types of meal kits, four in total.

For the main course, my mother ordered the Kirin fish fillet with shredded mustard rice.

Waffles ordered the grilled rib-eye steak with fries and port wine sauce. The charcoal smell of the grilled rib-eye steak was too strong, which completely covered the beef flavor, making the steak a waste.

The fries also have a lot of room for improvement.

My mom’s and my favorite waffle of the night was the rich chocolate orange mousse with almond biscuits.

Another dessert was a caramel banana walnut cake with vanilla sauce, which didn't quite go well with the waffle flavor.

For breakfast the next day, we had to choose between the set meal at Cafe Causette or the buffet at Clipper Lounge. Waffles and my mom chose Cafe Causette which had no time limit.

There are three types of breakfast: Mandarin breakfast, selected breakfast and Chinese breakfast.

When I came to the Mandarin Oriental Hotel in Hong Kong, I didn’t drink coffee. I tried the Mandarin Oriental Legendary Tea, which was delicious.

Mandarin Oriental's legendary teas mainly include vanilla, jasmine and lavender.

First came the selection of bread, the puff pastry was of superb quality.

Waffles ordered the Mandarin breakfast, which came with grapefruit juice (other fresh juices available), a fresh fruit platter and full-fat cheese.

The main course was smoked salmon and poached eggs, which looked beautiful, and the bread was baked crispy enough to make it crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. Side dishes include breakfast sausage and hash browns, and you can choose three side dishes. Other options include bacon, ham, blood sausage and smoked salmon.

My mother ordered a Chinese breakfast, which included a snack platter, porridge, fried noodles, stir-fried seasonal vegetables and fruits. My mother felt that the porridge was inferior to that of St. Regis.

The dim sum platter includes shrimp dumplings, siu mai, barbecued pork buns and vegetarian dumplings. I only tried the vegetarian dumplings, which tasted good.

The croissants are so delicious, I have to order one at the end.
